Södera höjder

A walk along Södermalm's northern hills, Söders höjder, is a kilometre (mi) showcase of vernacular buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, slow fashion shops, and several art & craft galleries, as well as an astounding view of Stockholm and its harbour.

The historical buildings with the amazing backdrop provide many spots for travel photography and urban sketching.

Understand

Until the 19th century, Södermalm's northern shoreline below the steep hills was used for docks and factories, and the hills housed the workers. The rest of the island was a farmland which supplied Stockholm.

As the rectangular city plan was laid out over Södermalm in the s, the hills were exempted, in a manner similar to Montmartre in Paris. The preserved houses are from the 18th and 19th centuries. Many are built from wood in a vernacular style with the iconic red paint; see Nordic folk culture.

Being a centrally located low-end neighbourhood (at times a slum) with views of greenery, water, and the more affluent districts, Södermalm has been romanticized more than any other part of Stockholm. Many of Stockholm's most famous artists and writers have lived on the hills, and there are

Mariahissen

Mariahissen uppfördes kalenderår i enstaka sk nygotisk stil tillsammans spetsbågefönster samt torn. Den byggdes på grund av att man skulle behärska ta sig ned mot Riddarfjärdens kust för för att ta båt mot Riddarholmen. Idag existerar inte hissen i bruk men lokalerna rymmer diverse företag.

Ivar Los park

Ivar Los park existerar ett populärt tillhåll tillsammans med lekplats, god backe på grund av pulkaåkning dock främst till utsikten mot Kungsholmen samt Gamla stan.

Parken är uppkallad efter proletärförfattaren Ivar Lo-Johansson. Han maximalt kända verk är Statarna. Han bodde och verkade på andra sidan Bastugan i nr 21 mellan åren samt till sin död Året efter fick parken sitt namn samt där finns en byst föreställande författaren.

Münchenbryggeriet

I över hundra år, ifrån , plats det öltillverkning här. vid talet fanns många bryggerier i stan och några byggnader står kvar dock det plats ofta länge sen detta bryggdes inom lokalerna. Idag är Münchenbryggeriet både mässlokal, konserthall samt konferenslokaler.

Yttersta tvärgränd

En utav Söders äldsta gränder, bevittna huvudstaden för tid sedan!  Det finns ett stor sektion bevarade byggnad från samt talen. Dock genomfördes enstaka stor renovering och modernisering

I was out this Sunday with family and friends for brunch at the restaurant Mosebacke Etablissement. The restaurant is locatedin a quaint historic neighborhood, just a minute walk from the Hotel Rival. The neighborhood is called "Söders Höjder", which means southern heights, and is a nice place to wander about and soak up the history, check out the architecture & views and perhaps visit one of the restaurants and bars in the area.

Katarina Church

One of the landmarks is Katarina Church. Originally built in the late 's, it has been through two major fires with one as late as Located on the heights, the high church tower can be seen from most of the city. Several famous Swedes are buried in the church cemetery including politician Anna Lindh, actor Michael Nyqvist, musician Cornelis Vreeswijk and poet and Nobel prize laureate Tomas Tranströmer.

Just north of the church is a small neighborhood with cobblestone streets and older architecture from the and 's.
