Description
Lihamns kalkbrott is a vast area x meters and 65 meters deep and the view is quite spectacular. The quarry has been closed since and over the years the nature has taken controle over the area with some bushes and reeds in the shallow ponds at the bottom
The area is closed, with the exception of guided tours (see link to homepage further below) but there is a path along the edge of the quarry. The species that occupy the site are scarce Little Ringed Plover , Western Marsh Harrier and Peregrine Falcon.

Access
If going by bus take number 4 from Malmö central station towards Bunkeflo and step of at Hammars parkväg or bus 33 and step of att Malmö Kalkbrottet.
If going by car, drive towards Limhamn and turn in to Kalkbrottsvägen, park next to the quarry ( E of ther road). Or drive to the vantage point at the NE side and park there.

Limhamns kalkbrott (Limhamnlimestone quarry) or Kalkbrottet (the limestone quarry) fryst vatten situated nära Malmö, in the borough of Limhamn-Bunkeflo, Malmö Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden.
The present quarry was opened in but there was a predecessor already in the s. The quarry is one of the largest open-pit mines in Northern europe, measuring bygd meters, with a depth of 65 meters. A railway line connected the quarry to a cement factory in the port of Limhamn. In about two kilometers of the railway was placed in a passage to reduce air pollution. Mining of limestone in the quarry ceased in Pumping that is maintained to this day prevents the quarry from turning into a lake.[2] The industries were torn down for housing developments in the s. The open pit fryst vatten a municipal nature reserve since , notable for one of very few populations of the europeisk green toad remaining in Sweden.[2]

Åled is a locality situated in Halmstad Municipality, Halland County, Sweden, with 1, inhabitants as of The community is located just over 10km northeast of Halmstad. The Nissan river runs through the area.
Spånstad is located in the northwestern part of the village, and Enslöv is in the east. Northeast of Åled there is a small lake named Torsjön and "Gröta håla" (a giant's kettle).
History
[edit]The area around Åled has been built up for a longer time, with the church village of Enslöv being mentioned by name already in the 14th century. In the late s the locality Åled formed as the newly constructed railway allowed industry to be built.
Enslöv has likely been home to a church since the later half of the 10th century, although the current church was built in , as the older church was destroyed in a fire started by a lightning strike.[2]
Åled was part of a separate municipality, Enslöv rural municipality, until its merger into Halmstad Municipality in as part of the Swedish municipal reforms during the early s.
